It’s been the best and wettest winter in such a long time and we Californians are (or at least should be) excited. Our lakes are filling up again and we will probably make it out of the drought by the end of the rain season. Let’s hope. All this is great but how do you incorporate some running miles into your day if it’s pouring outside.

I may not have the best answer for you as I personally hate running on a treadmill (some people call it dreadmill for reason) and it seems like an obvious answer. What I do have though is a great stair case at work. Whole 7 stories worth of stairs and I have decided to start walking/running them on my 30 minute lunch break. Of course I’m not super excited to work out at 2 am when I’m quite sleepy and the only thing I really wish for is a warm bed, but then I think about all the endorphins that will flood my brain and put this instant smile on my face.

I’ve been talking about stair walking and inviting my coworkers to join me and to my surprise this “doing stairs” has became popular among some people at work. Even though I was labeled as the crazy one (because I like and even enjoy running:) some people started following me in my footsteps and that just made my day (actually night as I work nights). So gone are those nights when I had the staircase for myself but seeing people doing the stairs just warms my heart because I know they are pushing themselves and getting fit while at work.
