Running the Strip: My Unforgettable Las Vegas Half Marathon
The neon glow of Las Vegas never looked so magical. This past weekend, I laced up my shoes and joined thousands of runners to conquer 13.1 electrifying miles in one of the most unforgettable places on earth. The Las Vegas Half Marathon wasn’t just a race—it was an experience, pulsing with music, energy, and raw adrenaline from start to finish. Seeing thousands of people that showed up for the same reason as I did is just so motivating and inspiring.
We kicked off the evening just as the sun dipped below the skyline, the Strip coming alive in a dazzling symphony of lights. Crowds lined the barricades, cheering with signs, cowbells, and endless enthusiasm. Every step I took echoed with the sounds of live bands, DJ booths, and the rhythmic beat of my own heart. Couldn’t resist to high-five with spectators along the way because every time I did I felt this amazing rush of energy.
Running through the heart of Las Vegas—past iconic casinos, under the glow of the Eiffel Tower at Paris, and alongside the fountains of the Bellagio—was surreal. The strip belonged to runners only that evening and all the hotels seemed longer and bigger for some reason 🙂 It felt like I was flying, fueled not just by training, but by the incredible spirit of the city.
Around mile 10, the challenge kicked in. My legs burned, the desert air felt dry in my lungs, but the crowd carried me thru the mental struggle. Strangers shouted my name, volunteers handed out water like gold, and in the distance, the finish line beckoned like a jackpot waiting to be claimed.
Crossing that finish line is always electric and emotional. I always think about my two kids and imagine them at the finish line (no I don’t bring them to Vegas with me) which puts a big smile on my face. I felt euphoric while my endorphins were erasing any memory of struggle. The medal they placed around my neck shimmered with Vegas glitz—and hard-earned pride. I did it. Thirteen point one miles of determination, joy, and unforgettable sights. I cheered with glass of bubbles with other runners and walk thru the best finish line that resembles more of a club with disco balls and a dance floor.
Las Vegas gave me so much more than just a race. It gave me a memory I’ll carry forever. So long Vegas.
